tripping

Saturday was supposed to be when we travelled to Lancaster to visit with
close friends who we haven’t seen in a while. I’m guessing the “was”
part clued you in as to the outcome :)

We had the usual grumpy start I seem to offer for most trips — why
I have no idea, part of it has to be the vastly different idea
lainens and I have of what a schedule is, I’m sure. Of course it
couldn’t be me :P

So, after stopping a couple times, we were about ready to get on the
road the car wouldn’t start. Joy. I’ve been through this before with
the ford so I knew what to do: check the battery, clean the cables (they
tend to accumulate that white crud), wait, offer a prayer to the nearest
deity.

Nada, zip, no start.

After ignoring lainens offer to find someone who will jump-start the
car, I finally found someone to jump-start the car and we drove to the
garage where they tell us that the starter was bad. Not being a simple
fix and realizing that the trip was a bust I drove lainens home, dropped
her and her dad off at the house and drove back to get the starter
replaced.

So, instead of a trip to meet friends and such, I spent the afternoon
reading a book waiting for the starter to be replaced. On the bright
side I did manage to get some reading done :)

christmas day

Spent the day doing absolutely nothing but playing games yesterday!
Well except for the brief trip to take lainens father to church.
Except for cooking dinner.
OH! and except for having to remove the sink trap because for some
reason it could not handle the potato skins that got jammed into it.

hmmm :)

I received my most favorite thing for christmas – quiet time and
clothes. yea!

After looking over my previous entry I realize that I should not make an
entry *just* after getting home from a bad day.

:P

holiday spirit

Somewhere between me leaving work this afternoon and arriving at the
house I managed to not kill anyone or run them over with my car. I am
amazed that the assault rate does not triple this time of the year.

I should point out that my commute home takes me by three of the largest
shopping centers in the area. Lets just say that the mind of the people
driving was *not* on driving safely in the rain but rather their food,
cell phone, passenger, shopping list or any combinations there-of.

traditions

The tree is up (after a room rearranging session of course) and soon
will be decorated – yay!

Of all the other holiday issues and bothers, the tree and christmas day
are things that I don’t mind about this season. Most of the other
trappings I can do without but I won’t digress into a full-fledged
grinch rant. :)

Lainens of course becomes even more of a kid during this season so I
have to remember to think of her enjoyment when things get stressed out.

The cats have completely investigated the intruder and are now in the
process of plotting it’s downfall – hopefully not literally but I’m sure
I will be woken up at least once to the sound of cats fleeing the scene
of the crime.

CSS take two

More css fun for me but this time I’m doing it while fully awake :)

hmm, need to go buy a clue as to why my floating right menu is acting
more like a trailing lead balloon.
